    Tjena Sverige!

(disclaimer: this entry was typed at the time stated below but updated online at a much later time)

Hej hej hej! Timecheck: Jan 9th. Singapore -11.31am. Sweden -4.31. I’m finally here on the other side of the world! I just woke up from a really good slumber and here I in a small town called Katrineholmes which is right smack in between Stockholm and Jonkoping. The house where I’m in definitely has got to be one of the dream homes ever fantasized about. It’s as I’d love to call it, very “Ikea”. Indeed, the Swedes have a taste in home designs.

So anyway, it’s been a wonderful journey here, although I got to admit the 15hour flight almost killed my soul. Angela and I took the Malaysian Airlines shuttle flight service to KL upon which we transit for an hour before getting on the next Boeing carrier direct to Stockholm. It was quite cool to be in KL airport as I got to admit I’ve never been to their airport despite going to KL several times (but come on, we drive there don’t we?)

So somehow Angela and I boarded the flight earlier so that we can chuck our hand-carry luggage(s) and get our sleep straight away. But I had a feeling maybe the flight might have been delayed while we were already fast asleep as I heard something about the 45 minutes delay before the pilot made the usual announcement before take off.

The sleep on the flight was not a fantastic one though (for sure!) but I managed to fall in and out of sleep in between. The weather must have been fine, thank God, because I did not feel any turbulences or such. At some points too I could see out of the window clearly and see the minute details of landforms on the ground.

And then I saw this amazing sight. Ice covered land mass, though I was not sure which area this was when we crossed it. Somehow I figured it was lacking in any form of human civilization based on the concrete piece of ice with no scatters or sign of human activities. I can only assume.

Towards the end of the flight, I managed to spare about 6hours to catch some movies onboard. Nothing too amazing though, The Duchess is a waste of time so don’t bother. The Women is a typical Cashmere Mafia/Sex in the City except trying too hard, but the only show I enjoyed was Simpsons. Back to basic huh? HAHA! Lunch on board was good too, because the mashed potato was superb. L-O-V-E-D it.

And finally touch down! It was close to 2pm local time when we arrived, and Angela’s contact was already at the airport to fetch us. The temperature was -1, so maybe imagine the kind of temperature you get when you just entered Snow City (what a comparison) except it’s nice and natural. Don’t be surprised too when at 2pm it was almost dark here as the sun sets at about 3plus. Gonna be in for a really long night I bet. LOL.

The host has been nothing short of awesome. The Koski family is really hospitable and provided us each with a room for ourselves. Angela has the room with the fireplace because I think she’s feeling really cold already…haha! I got a cosy room at the back of the house (both our space are on the underground part of the house and it’s really cool –pun intended-) The toilet is nice too and they’ve got an in-house sauna!!! How extremely extremely fantastic is that I can just sit in there all day long pretending this is a holiday. Lol. But anyway I would liken this to a 5-star winter lodging except it’s free and I would love to give a shout out to Angela…THANK YOU SO MUCH BABE for getting this for the both of us!!! =D

I’m still trying to get the hang of the time –I would say my body is almost in tune with the time here despite the 7hours difference though. Why not, afterall I do sleep very very late past midnight and love to wake up past 11 back at home, so I guess here my body is reacting almost like this is a natural timezone. Hehe. Oh but I got to say shorter sleeping hours here is possible and won’t leave you dazy since it’s cold and you’d be guaranteed a good night rest.

Okay folks, I think it’s close to 5 here so I should hang around in bed until they wake up for breakfast. This has been a long entry indeed but I have a lot to say already from the first day. I’ll spare you guys anymore until I get to Jonkoping!

P/s: Missing everyone already. And I left 2 items back in Sg, my white matching scarf AND my 2 SIM cards, so I do not have a Swedish line (sorry Fazli I’m such a scatterbrain you might as well have kept the card).

P/s/s: Thank you family for sending me off. Haha! Especially Kakak and Abang Aersad for waking up early and send me to the airport. Love you many many!

    Love y’all!
